Who is at the forefront of mobile point-of-care technologies?  How are our peers overcoming obstacles and bringing technologies from pilot to implementation?  How many of us are out there, truly changing clinical workflows for the better?

There may be more of us than you think.

Earlier this year, Hospitals & Health Networks published the 25 Most Wireless hospitals list, along with its prestigious 100 Most Wired hospitals. This annual survey asks hospitals how they use information technology to address safety and quality, customer service, business processes, workforce, and public health and safety. The magazine reported that this year, 556 hospitals and health systems completed the survey, representing 1,327 hospitals.

Of that number 25 hospitals made the Most Wireless list for their innovation in mobile point-of-care. The HealthcareGoesMobile.com team is reaching out to the Most Wireless hospitals with the goal of generating more case studies for our shared knowledge base.

Here’s a preview of what we’re learning:

HealthAlliance Hospitals in Leominster, Mass., have implemented a new, robust type of healthcare-grade wireless network that draws HIT visitors from around the world. The network enables mobile patient telemetry and has virtually eliminated dropped calls and pages, to the delight of doctors, of course.

Residents at the University of Michigan Health System access a software tool on mobile devices that they claim saves them 90 minutes a day. That's a powerful outcome.

As we learn more about these potential case studies, we will bring this knowledge to you. In the meantime, tell us what resources would help you the most.
